Showcasing Project Gyanodaya, the coffee table book titled “Gyanodaya Godda” was released on the occasion of Children’s Day in presence of Dr Priti G. Adani, Chairperson, Adani Foundation. Senior officials from Adani Group were also present at the occasion. The book highlights the various elements of Gyanodaya and showcases the impact stories.
Adani Foundation in partnership with Eckovation launched Gyanodaya project in August 2018 to promote e-learning through Smart Classes in Godda district, Jharkhand which is an aspirational district as declared by Niti Aayog.
Gyanodaya project covers 224 govt. schools of Godda spread across 200 villages in 9 blocks, reaching out to 65,000 students studying in 6th to 12th standards. In less than nine months multiple benefits of digital learning have been observed in the transformation of around 65,000 children. These includes digital skills, decision making capabilities, visual learning, cultural awareness, improved academic performance and inventiveness.
The Gyanodaya project is designed to upgrade the quality of education by use of relevant technology. At the same time it retains the established teaching and learning methodologies.
Gyanodaya Project, which started in July 2018, engages and interacts with students through e-learning videos. This technology is used to insert questions in connection with their lessons. The unique element of this module is that there is an assessment which is done at the end of the lessons. Based on the assessment the students are given feedbacks for further improvement.
The audio-visual medium makes learning interesting and the project hopes to improve retention levels of students. Gyanodaya also hopes to improve the attendance in schools along with improvement in performance of students.
Gyanodaya has resulted in an increase of 77% in the class-wise attendance comparing the figures of past years. A significant reduction in dependency on tuition classes has also been observed all across the blocks which will thereby increase the faith of students and parents likewise on government schools. Students who used to fall under 30-40% marks bracket have shifted into 70-80% marks bracket due to better understanding and retention of basic concepts and a daily quiz after every concept video.
